Here is the Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector's Edition!

By Square Enix Team

The headline probably says it all but we are proud to announce that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is getting its very own Collector’s Edition!

It looks pretty good right? I must say that even I am impressed with what we’ve managed to put in this Collector’s Edition. It’s going to be available in limited quantities so to avoid disappointment be sure to pre-order it as soon as you can. If you like the look of it you can pre-order it here via the Square Enix Store. So that’s enough talk, let’s take a closer look at the goodies inside!

Probably the most important part of any Collector’s Edition is the game itself right? The Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition obviously comes with the full game but the disc itself comes in a rather gorgeous golden Steelbook. Long-time Final Fantasy fans will be familiar with artist Yoshitaka Amano and his work on the Final Fantasy franchise and in particular his work on the logos. The golden Steelbook features the main logo of Type-0 that centres on the two Goddesses of Orience.

On the inside of the case is the Japanese kanji for the game title (that’s also part of the game title/logo). 零, or "Rei," means "zero," and 式, or "shiki," means "type." A nice touch to add the extra layer of authenticity. You’ll also notice that the game title isn't obviously displayed on the case either (other than on the spine). This is something we’ve done to make this Steelbook a little extra special.

Along with the game itself, the Steelbook holds another disc inside – a soundtrack consisting of 15 music tracks. This selection is handpicked by the composer of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD - Takeharu Ishimoto. The name might ring a bell as he’s composed the soundtracks for a few Square Enix titles including Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and both Dissidia games. If you’ve been playing Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call you might be familiar with some of the music from Type-0 already. The main theme “We Have Arrived” has genuinely become one of my favourite Final Fantasy themes of all time.

Now you might recognise these cards. These are life-size replicas of the iconic cards used by the Class-0 member Ace. You’ve probably seen Ace holding one of these in some of the artwork for Type-0 HD. The cards are actually his weapons and the front of the cards feature images of the Type-0 Eidolons: Odin, Ifrit, Shiva, Diabolos and Bahamut and in the CE you’ll get 5 cards.

This is something I’m personally really excited about. The CE will include the full 200 page manga based on Final Fantasy Type-0 that was released in Japan back in 2011. The book itself a real authentic reproduction of the original manga with a similar kind of paper, same size and same layout. It will also come in English, French or German, depending on your region. The only thing to bear in mind is that the manga does follow the story of the game but adds new characters and situations, so you may want to hold off on reading the manga until after you've completed the game. On the plus side, the manga does give you a deeper insight into the characters, so it’ll add to your overall experience of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

If one book wasn’t enough then how about another? We are also including an 80 page hardback art book in the Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition entitled "Class Zero 842." Featuring the art of Yusuke Naora (who has previously worked on Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII and X) and Tetsuya Nomura (who I’m sure needs no introduction to any Final Fantasy fan), plus CG renders and other artwork from across the production The artwork in Type-0 HD is really stunning. The foreword in the art book is also written by the game’s director Hajime Tabata himself.

Last and certainly by no means least, the Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition will also come with a download code for the Final Fantasy XV demo – Episode Duscae.

Episode Duscae is exclusive to Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. The only way you can play it is to get a download code that comes with Type-0 HD. Episode Duscae will come with all copies of Type-0 HD (standard or Collector’s Edition) but it’s supposed to be a special gift to Final Fantasy fans who have supported us and are supporting Type-0 HD by picking it up early, so it’ll only be available for a limited time. If you want to play Episode Duscae, then be sure to pre-order Type-0 HD or be quick about getting a copy when the game comes out on March 20, 2015.

So that is the Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition! I hope you guys agree that there’s some really cool stuff in there. At the moment you can pre-order the CE directly from the Square Enix Store, but we will be selling the CE via other retailers as well, so check with them if you want to purchase it elsewhere.

For those of you who like to pre-order directly from us though, you will get an exclusive sleeve design for your CE.

The Square Enix Store exclusive CE sleeve features a unique close up of the Goddesses of Orience from Type-0’s logo, whereas the regular slipcase will simply feature the regular game logo. Of course both covers are beautiful, but we wanted to offer something a little exclusive to those of you who choose to order directly from the Square Enix Store.

We’ve got a quick video to show you what the sleeve looks like which you can watch below:

The video features the PS4 version but if you want to see the Xbox One sleeve then you can see that here.

The Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Collector’s Edition is coming out on March 20, 2015 on PS4 and Xbox One. It will cost £79.99/€99.99 and you can pre-order it via the link below!
