We’re excited to announce an exciting new update has arrived for The DioField Chronicle. It features a new story, new weapons, new difficulty and even a new mode for New Game+! It’s now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam and best of all… it’s free!

If you’ve played this tactical RPG gem, then you’ll be thrilled to hear about all the new content coming - particularly when you discover what the additional story is about. For any of you yet to experience the game, you’ll be able to play the most feature-rich, strategically satisfying version yet. You’re in for a real treat.

So what is in The DioField Chronicle update? Read on and we’ll take you through!

New story scenario

It’s going to be tricky talking about the new story without diving into spoilers. I’ll do my best to dance round the big reveals but proceed at your own caution.

The new story focuses on one of the heads of the Blue Fox Mercenaries - Waltaquin Redditch. She experiences some interesting character development over the course of the game, and we know that many fans wanted to know more about her.

That’s exactly what this additional chapter delivers. You’ll experience an entirely new tale, set around the same time period as Chapter 4 from the main game. This additional tale is told from Waltaquin’s point of view - you’ll discover what drives her, dig into some new abilities, and get a closer look at her relationships with the other members of the team.

Along the way, you can undertake new main missions and side missions that provide fresh combat challenges to challenge your ability to think tactically. These will test everything you know about the game’s innovative real-time battle system, with some having a higher level than even the main campaign itself!

The new content becomes available to play once you reach Chapter 6 in the main game. If you played through the game, you don’t need us to say anything else - you’re likely desperate to spend some more time with Waltaquin. And if you’re coming to the game fresh, trust us - it’s worth the wait!

New weapon type: The Magic Tome

Waltaquin has access to a new weapon type: The Magic Tome.

This adds exciting new spells for her to use, such as summoning skeletal knights or even a skeletal dragon! These new tools open up all kinds of additional options for you in combat, allowing for some bold new strategies. It’s a lot of fun to play around with!

New difficulty: Very Hard

Have you completed The DioField Chronicle? Have you overcome all its many quests and desperate for something that will test your mettle? Are you vaguely masochistic?

If so, the new ‘Very Hard’ difficulty level will be right up your alley. This new option ups the challenge of the game considerably - you’ll have to have a really solid understanding of your units’ strengths and weaknesses, enemy vulnerabilities, and a solid strategy to have a hope of making it through these brutal skirmishes in one piece.

It’s perfect for those of you who like to really earn your victories. Bad decisions have serious consequences, making it all the more satisfying when you lead the Blue Foxes to battlefield supremacy!

New Extra Mode for New Game+

If you’re ready to start a new game, be sure to check out a new feature that’s just been added to New Game+: Extra Mode.

This adds stronger enemies, so even if you’ve levelled up your heroes to impressive heights, you’ll still have to think before you act!

The new update for The DioField Chronicle is now available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam.

The game itself is available now. It’s an innovative title that combines tactical RPG gameplay with real-time actions – coined the Real-Time Tactical Battle (RTTB) system, leading to a game where the battlefield is constantly changing… as must your strategy. If you’re a fan of tactical RPGs, it’s a must play!

You can get a sense of what to expect in the free demo, which takes you through the start of the game and the first few missions. Plus, your progress carries over to the full game, so if you like what you played, you can continue the adventure when you upgrade!
