FINAL FANTASY XIV Online World Tour: Endwalker

We’ve spent the last few months looking back at where we’ve been in Hydaelyn. Now it’s time to cast our eyes forward at where we’re going…

Over the last few months, we’ve been taking a nostalgic tour of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online’s Hydaelyn.

We’ve taken a look at where our adventures started in A Realm Reborn, looked back at the dragon-rich regions of Heavensward, gone above and below the waves in Stormblood and into a whole new world in Shadowbringers.

  • FINAL FANTASY XIV Online World Tour: Heavensward
  • FINAL FANTASY XIV Online World Tour: Stormblood
  • FINAL FANTASY XIV Online World Tour: Shadowbringers

But you can’t look back forever - with the next expansion, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker just weeks away, we thought we’d give another look at where we’re going next.

No spoilers, but they’re some of the most exciting yet.

Old Sharlayan

One of the new cities in Endwalker is actually an old one: Old Sharlayan to be precise. We’ve been gifted glimpses of Sharlayan architecture before in places such as the Dravanian Hinterlands, but the expansion is the first time we’ll be able to explore this expansive settlement.

It’s large and beautiful, with gleaming white buildings that emphasize its place as the center of Sharlayan society. When you get to visit, make sure you take in the Studium - the most prestigious seat of learning on Hydaelyn!

Labyrinthos

Venture deep below the streets of Old Sharlayan and you’ll discover Labyrinthos. This vast subterranean environment was created as a repository for knowledge gathered from all over the world.

To protect the invaluable tomes stored here, the climate is aetherically controlled. The lush surroundings and artificial sky mean you’d be forgiven for forgetting you’re underground at all.

Radz-at-Han

Radz-at-Han is famous around Hydaelyn - not just as a bustling trade hub, but also as the birthplace of alchemy. This city has produced countless people of influence as well as inventions that changed the world.

But what you’ll probably notice on your initial visit is just how visually striking it is. Perched atop a towering pillar of rock, its streets and buildings burst with color. It’s like nowhere else in the world of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online!

Thavnair

This island lies in the Bounty’s southeastern waters. When you visit, expect sweltering heat, extreme humidity and some absolutely stunning scenery.

The area’s a rich source of giantsgall, a magically-infused stone causes a distinctive glow in many of its rocky outcrops. Chocobo amateurs will remember that areas for other reasons, though…

Garlemald

The Garlean Empire has been a thorn in the Warriors of Light’s sides since A Realm Reborn. In Endwalker we’re finally stepping foot on their home turf.

Garlemald always had a natural disadvantage due to its location on the frozen plains of Northern Ilsabard. Despite this, the Imperial Capital was able to utilize the power of magitek and bring industry and development to the city, and turn the Empire into a major power in the world.

Alas those days are now gone - civil war has left this once-proud city broken and in ruins. You’ll get to explore the desolation for yourself soon.

Mare Lamentorum

You probably already know this, but it’s worth saying anyway: ENDWALKER IS TAKING US TO THE BLOOMIN’ MOON!

Ahem. You’ll have to forgive our excitement because despite its arid basalt surface, the lunar region of Mare Lamentorum is one of the most fascinating in all of Endwalker. You’ll notice that the area is dotted with apparently artificial structures. Their purpose and origin? That has yet to be discovered…

It’s not just new areas that Endwalker adds of course, there’s much more: an epic new story, new jobs, new races, new quests, new challenges, a new raid… the list goes on. You can find out more about what to expect here:
