SQUARE ENIX Live E3 2019 brought a number of exciting new announcements to fans and newcomers around the world.

While the original FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS recently celebrated its third anniversary (alongside more than 39 million downloads globally), E3 also gave the world its first look at WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS – a brand new project from FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS team.

We sat down with the producer of the FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS series Kei Hirono and FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS Global Version producer Hiroki Fujimoto, who gave us seven reasons you should download it onto your phone when it releases worldwide.

1. You don’t need to know anything about FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS to jump in!

Although it may be part of the FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS universe, WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS is a completely new title. It’s been designed from the ground up to ensure you need no prior-knowledge of the series to get going.

Because it’s set centuries before the story of FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS, you can feel safe in the knowledge that you’re discovering this brand new story, characters and gameplay systems all alongside die-hard fans.

2. But if you are a fan of the first game, you’ll love it even more!

As fans of the original FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS, it’s exciting to think we’ll be getting a whole new experience set in an already familiar world, with lots of nods to in-game historical events.

According to Hirono: “If you look at the main FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS game, Lapis can be considered to essentially be the planet. If you look on the world map on the lower right there is a continent that hasn’t been revealed yet, and that’s Ardora - where this particular story takes place.

“They are interconnected in terms of the history of the world, so if you know the main FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS game, then there will be certain aspects or mysteries, that may be unravelled through WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS.

“So, you will be able to enjoy the game even more if you have played FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS. But of course, as always, we want to ensure that those who haven’t played FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS will also be able to enjoy this game.”

3. WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS is a tactical FINAL FANTASY title for your Smartphone

Which is a hugely exciting prospect for those who love tactical RPGs!

WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS allows you to position your units strategically within a 3D map, taking turns to move and attack your enemies. Added tactical depth includes potential changes in elevation, so your positioning can really make a difference.

Fujimoto says: “There are various elements that come into play here, but we believe that for those of you who like tactical RPGS and FINAL FANTASY TACTICS in particular, most of the elements that make up the genre can be found within the gameplay systems of WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS.”

4. There’s limitless depth to tactical play…

With a controllable 3D camera, and a party of heroes with varying skills and capabilities, it’s up to the player to make the best call as to how they take on their objective.

Hirono says: “It is a pure kind of tactical RPG but it also includes various types of objectives throughout the field, where you may need to press on a switch in order to open certain gates, or you can occasionally, for example, blow up a bridge in order to proceed.”

Using the environment to the best of your party’s ability will play a huge role in the success of the mission.

“It also includes a very deep and expansive character growth system and various types of characters will also make an appearance in this game, it is a very deep experience.”

5. …and an expansive story that will continue for years to come

WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS tells a sprawling tale of nations at war - a more involved story and a more mature approach than would be necessarily expected from a smartphone game.

According to Fujimoto: “The original FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS is focused on one main character and the growth of that main character is similar to the themes that are often carried in traditional boys’ manga.”

Hirono adds: “WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS depicts war as the title entails, it really delves into depicting human nature at its core. It is kind of like an ensemble drama so to speak.

“Basically this is a war between countries and regions, and beyond this there is a greater/wider world that unfolds.” With the original game now into its third year, and such an ambitious sounding story behind WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS, we asked how far into the future they’ve planned for.

Hirono said: “It is our duty to not let it stop, and make sure it continues on. We feel like we do need to at least continue it for another 10 years or so!”

6. But you can still get a few battles in during your lunch break

Despite this ever-growing story of warring nations, and an ever-expanding roster of characters and abilities, WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS still wants to ensure you’re able to enjoy the experience - even if you only have a little time to play.

Hirono explains: “Many people find these types of games to be difficult, so we will have an auto mode but also we will have a fast forward mode for anyone who doesn’t want to wait for these actions to unfold.”

This means you can equip your characters to the best of your ability, set them loose on the battlefield, and watch as they (hopefully) finish off your opponent while you finish off your dinner!

7. Its free to download!

Despite featuring fully-3D skirmishes, CG graphics from the team at Visual Works and a deep narrative, WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS is, like FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS before it, free to download and play!

With lots of brand new characters planned for the future, and some surprises for FINAL FANTASY fans (we haven’t even mentioned summons yet!) there’ll be plenty of reasons to download WAR OF THE VISIONS FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS when it releases later this year.
