On its 10th Anniversary, THE LAST REMNANT gets Remastered!
Set in a world of multirace humanoids such as the Mitras, Yamas, Qsitis, and Sovanis, THE LAST REMNANT Remastered protagonist Rush Sykes is far-removed from the struggle for the power of Remnants until his sister is kidnapped. Recruited by the ruler of Athlum, Rush is drawn into a struggle between the multiple city-states and their quests for the power using the ancient artifacts known as Remnants.
Released world-wide back in 2008, THE LAST REMNANT was a JRPG that blossomed from the minds of developers who worked on SaGa and the Final Fantasy series: Producer Nobuyuki Ueda, Director Hiroshi Takai, and Executive Producer Akitoshi Kawazu. Global audiences were able to experience the deep storytelling, its revolutionary battle system, and memorable cast of characters.
THE LAST REMNANT also marked many firsts for SQUARE ENIX. It was the first game by SQUARE ENIX to use Unreal Engine 3. The game was highly praised for its art direction by Yusuke Naora who is known for his work on the Final Fantasy series, and musical score by Tsuyoshi Sekito who is also known for his work on Brave Fencer Musashi and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
The announcement of THE LAST REMNANT Remastered notably comes at its 10 year anniversary mark. The remastered game will use Unreal Engine 4 to help emphasize the game’s beautiful character designs, animations, and textures for newer generation platforms.
Join fan favorite Rush Sykes and his buddies on a journey to uncover the mysteries behind the Remnants and rescue his younger sister, Irina! The adventure awaits December 6, 2018, on the PlayStation Store.
